Young, so young!

Found some old pictures of my dad when he was in his twenties. So strange that my parents have been young as well! I love how the photo's are black and white. To me, this always gives a picture a more mysterious look.

How strange will it be when I am fifty to look at photo's of myself from when I was eightteen? I hope that I can look back at them and have good memories...

Rainy days

Am I the only one who always feels a bit sad as the vacation comes to an end?
You don't have anything to do, the weather isn't as you hoped it would be and all your friends are
still on vacation. So you spend your days staring out of the windows or behind the computer.
I think it's called being bored...

I spend my days writing job application letters at the moment. It turns out to be really difficult to find a nice job if all you have is a high school diploma, even if your results are really good. So right now, I'm just writing to every vacancy that looks like I might have a chance. I hope to find something soon, because it will give me a more stable rythm every day. I do hope to still have some time for the fun stuff, such as blogging and writing, because this year was also supposed to be fun after all.

For the rest, those last summer days are perfect for doing things at home, such as:
  • bake cookies, cakes, pizza's etc
  • finally read that book that you've had for so long (I'm actually reading a book in French right now!)
  • clean your room (apparently it is impossible to keep my room clean for more than 30 minutes)
  • drink tea and watch movies with friends or your cat
  • meet with old friends
  • think of new combinations of clothing
  • listen to your favorite cd while reading old magazines
  • start knitting a scarf for the upcoming fall (ok, you must be really desperate for that)
  • stand on your head and think of all the wonderful things that fall and winter will bring you!
So remember, even if the day is rainy and grey, there are still enough things to do to make living awesome!

Stupid, the new smart?

I love the Diesel campaign! Definetely planning on getting some more "stupid" into my life!

Lists: What to do this year?

As you may have noticed, I decided not to go to college this year. So I have a whole year to do all kind of things that I wouldn't have done otherwise. So I decided to make a list of the things that I hope/wish/plan/want to do this year:

- start a blog (did that one already), and making it successful
- start writing for the youth section of my favorite Dutch newspaper NRC (my niece did that, and I loved reading her pieces)
- make my own clothes (I've done that a lot, but stopped during my last year in high school due to exams) and become good at it
- taking dance lessons (I still love hiphop dancing!)
- travel (I really really really want to learn spanish and visit South America, especially Argentina!)
- laugh a lot
- drink rum
- find a fun job
- learn Spanish
- meet ice skater Trevor Marsicano (his life story is so inspiring)
- sing in public
- get hit on by a cute boy
- wear socks in pumps
- bake pies (carrot cake!)
- learn how to use Skype
- have sex
- do karaoke
- flirt (oh, a lot please)
- meet new people
- dance on tables
- choose a study for next year (kind of important)
- find a cool room to live in next year
- buy new shoes
- learn how to take good photo's (also useful while blogging)
- find a date for my mom
- play the piano
- staying awake the whole night without getting moody
- go to a concert (M.I.A. comes to Eindhoven!!)
- prepare an 8-course dinner (might be 4 courses, but anyway)
- make people laugh
- just have fun!

Hope to do all those things and many many more!

Last few days of vacation.. Silence before the storm?

I haven't been up to much these days, to be honest. Had to get over the shock of seeing my friends leave for college, while I would be staying here, in boring Eindhoven, for another year. It was hard to see them go, but I have to admit that I'm also looking forward to the travelling that I am planning to do after a half year of working for the money. I do not very often agree with Britney Spears, but I have to say that "I'm not a girl, not yet a woman" feels like it's written about me. So hopefully in this year I will turn into that woman. Or at least something like that. And hopefully I will do a lot of cool things during that process.

I did go to the movies with my friend W. yesterday. We went to "Inception", and I have to say that I really enjoyed it! Had some trouble understanding it at first, but at least you didn't know how it was going to end after 5 minutes. And I would absolutely recommend people to go see it, as it is a great combination between action and psychological aspects. And of course because Ellen Paige, whom I am secretly in love with, has a big role in it.

Afterwards we went for some drinks, and made a lot of friends among the students who were celebrating their introduction weeks by drinking enormous amounts of beer. No one so friendly as a completely drunk first year student. It was an "interesting" event...

And now, I am trying to create some order out of the chaos that my room currently is, for it's told that wise people have said that: A clean room means a clear head. And that's definetely something I could use right now!

Wish you all the best tuesdayevening that a person could have!

Introduction to blogging

So. Here I am, doing something I planned on doing for a long time. I've been reading blogs for a few years now, and every time I wonder: if they can do it, can I? I love writing, but will my life be interesting enough to write about? I have to say that I don't know. But yesterday, when I decided not to go to college this year but to take a gap year, I thought that this would also be the moment to start doing other things that I wanted to do for so long.

So from now on, I will be blogging about my life, the things I do and see, the people I meet, and the things that I find interesting. I plan to have a lot of fun while doing it, and hope you like the results..

You'll be hearing from me soon,
Love Jinte
